RHUL 78rpm Record Collection

The database can be viewed as a spreadsheet at: Google Spreadsheets. Also viewable as a text file or HTML.

Recording statistics

There are 2,930 record sides (1,865 records) in the database, with about 870 works which can be seen in this listing.

Here are lists of information extracted from the database sorted by the highest frequency of occurance in the collection according to a count of the number of record sides. The lists found in parentheses after each field name is a count of the number when preselecting only the first record side of a multi-sided performance. For example a symphony can occur on multiple sides, so the record side count in the raw work list cannot be used to count how many performances of the works exist in the collection, while the side 1 worklist gives a more accurate count of performances of each work.

    Search Instructions:
Search by specific data fields in the form on the left, or in any field using the keyword box at the top. The radio buttons in the first column specify which field to sort by for displaying the result. The check boxes in the second column specify which field columns to display in the results. Search fields are ANDed together, so if you place text in more than one search box, the results will satisfy search requirements for all fields. Search terms can be excluded from the results by prepending an exclamation mark (!). For example, to show all composers other than Beethoven, search for !Beethoven. Exact phrases can be searched by enclosing them in quotes, such as "1 of" to search only entries which are for the first side of multi-sided works. Search terms can be ORed together by placing the two options in quotes separated by a pipe character (|), for example "Elgar|Walton" (be careful of spaces which will be interpreted literally inside of quotes).

Exact matches can be controlled by adding quotes around a query string. For example, B will match to Series B, DB and DBS, but search query "B" will only match to Series B.

Most regular expression syntax can be used in the search fields as well. For example, searching for ^D in the Series field, will match to any series which starts with a D, such as D, DB, and DBS.
